I’ve got nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. The location of the Hugo can’t be beaten. It’s a very short walk to the Hudson River park; a very short walk to Soho and Tribeca and the lower East Side is also pretty accessible, as is Greenwich Village and midtown. It’s just perfect. The hotel has a very good bar on the ground floor. Unlike the ear-bleeding noise experienced on the roof bar, this bar is quiet and sophisticated. And last but not least, the staff (with one exception) are incredible. Housekeeping was very good and the rooms were always cleaned by lunchtime. The front-of-house team is led by Mike, who is without question of one of nicest and most professional hotel managers I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a few issues during a stay with the water temperature due to a supply problem and something out of his control, but Mike and Gi Gi were consummate professionals and made sure we were compensated for our trouble. They were both so nice and friendly that we actively made a point of chatting to them both before we left the hotel early in the morning or when we returned at night. They are hospitality stars!

In general, the hotel ticked all our boxes. It was exactly where we needed to be. It is well located and a short walk from everywhere. The hotel is hip with a lovely roof terrace. The rooms was a decent size for NYC and everything was well distributed. Staff was friendly when approached, but I didn't feel they went out of their way for me. No information was given upon check in about hotel facilities; i.e. gym, restaurant, roof top etc. I did ask for recommendations one day, and again none were offered....."walk down Spring street & you should find something"- felt a little lazy. I also had asked for a map, which the you were out of. They are little details, that if addressed would absolutely elevate the hotel; but would we stay there again? Yes we would.

Overall it was a good experience. Smooth check-in and check-out. Room was clean. It is a bit hidden but the location was not bad. At night it can get a bit quiet in the area. It is close to soho and the meat district which have nice shops and restaurants close by. You have the chelsea market close to the hotel which is worth going and doing a guided tour. The history of thar part is quite interesting. However it is still a good 15-20mins from Times square. Another neat thing is that the hotel has a bar on the terrace and the ambiance was pretty nice at night.

Well located hotel in Soho within walking distance of Greenwich Village to the north, Lower East Side to the east and the Business District and ground Zero to the south, with a view over the Hudson towards Jersey City. Room was clean and the staff friendly. Facilities were a little limited but excellent as a base to explore NYC. Also had a roof top bar which was a bit young and trendy for us but fantastic night-time views over the Hudson and towards the Business District

The 2-level roof top bar was great. There were days that one or both levels were booked for a private party, but we were able to enjoy the view and great cocktails a couple of times. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was clean and worked well - which is not always the case in Manhattan. Not so far of a walk from the Village or the High Line.
