I’ve got nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. The location of the Hugo can’t be beaten. It’s a very short walk to the Hudson River park; a very short walk to Soho and Tribeca and the lower East Side is also pretty accessible, as is Greenwich Village and midtown. It’s just perfect. The hotel has a very good bar on the ground floor. Unlike the ear-bleeding noise experienced on the roof bar, this bar is quiet and sophisticated. And last but not least, the staff (with one exception) are incredible. Housekeeping was very good and the rooms were always cleaned by lunchtime. The front-of-house team is led by Mike, who is without question of one of nicest and most professional hotel managers I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a few issues during a stay with the water temperature due to a supply problem and something out of his control, but Mike and Gi Gi were consummate professionals and made sure we were compensated for our trouble. They were both so nice and friendly that we actively made a point of chatting to them both before we left the hotel early in the morning or when we returned at night. They are hospitality stars!

Great location, 5-10 min walk to subway stops & walking distance to West Village & Tribecca. Room was clean, well appointed, comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot shower. Nice to have a bathroom door that closes properly (not a slider). Had a partial water view from 9th floor. Deluxe room is a decent size and easily fit two people with carry-ons. Isis at the front desk is excellent and provides professional service, a true hotelier. The staff was very friendly overall, professional and well trained. Free hot or ice coffee at Felix was a great bonus too.

The Hugo is very convenient for the trip of trip we take to NYC; we love Soho and Tribeca area and these are both easily walkable from the hotel. It is also convenient for Spring Street subway station and a wide range of restaurants. The rooms have a slightly nautical feel which is a pleasant change from chain hotels. We typically request a high floor river (west-facing) view but some of the other rooms have rather less attractive views. Easy to access the tremendous Hudson River Parkway for walks, runs, skating, biking, and more.

The roof top bar offered an amazing view of the Hudson and Jersey City, especially at night, and fantastic drinks and food. Staff was very friendly. The most comfortable hotel mattress I have slept on in years. It was also insanely quiet and we didn’t hear anyone else while in our room. I also love the location. It’s a relatively quiet block on the weekend, but within walking distance of plenty of food options, art galleries, etc.

Danielle

The staff were warm and professional and accommodated all of our requests. The hotel has a boutique feel to it with only eight rooms of each floor. The rooms are large and comfortable and it was lovely waking up to a Hudson River view each day. I would recommend Hotel Hugo to anyone wanting to stay around the SoHo area of Manhattan who enjoys a quieter base which is within a short walk to the West Village, central SoHo and TriBeCa.
